At the Green Bitcoin Farm, we not only deal with energy, Bitcoin and Agri-PV - but also with the question of which plants really make sense in a future, sustainable agriculture. One of the most exciting answers to this is called: Moringa.
The moringa tree, often referred to as the „miracle tree“, originally comes from India and now grows in many tropical and subtropical regions of the world. Particularly interesting for us: Moringa copes excellently with sun, dryness and demanding soils - perfect conditions for our conditions on Tenerife.
Why Moringa is so special
Moringa grows extremely quickly, requires comparatively little water and provides an impressive amount of usable biomass. The leaves in particular are the focus of attention, as they are considered a real superfood worldwide. They contain numerous vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and vegetable protein.
Moringa is already used in many countries as a food supplement, tea, powder or animal feed. We find the combination of farming and processing directly on site particularly exciting. This is exactly where the tree fits in perfectly with the vision of the Green Bitcoin Farm.
Because our aim is not just to grow plants - but to create added value directly on the farm.
Solar energy, bitcoin mining and moringa
At the GBF, we are rethinking agriculture. Our concept combines agrivoltaics, renewable energies and Bitcoin mining with modern food production.
Moringa fits perfectly into this system:
- The trees benefit from our sunny climate on Tenerife.
- The leaves can be harvested and gently dried directly on site.
- Excess energy and even waste heat from Bitcoin mining can be used for drying processes in the long term.
- The leaves are not only suitable for human consumption, but also as a high-quality supplementary feed for animals such as chickens.
This creates a closed cycle of energy, agriculture and processing - exactly what the Green Bitcoin Farm stands for.
A market with great potential
The global market for moringa products has been growing strongly for years. More and more people are paying attention to natural nutrition, superfoods and sustainable production methods. In Europe in particular, demand for high-quality moringa powder, dried leaves and organically grown products is on the rise.
What's more, many moringa products are currently still imported via long supply chains. Local cultivation within Europe or on islands such as Tenerife could play an increasingly important role in the future - both ecologically and economically.
