Livia was busy and turned our planning into pictures.
What if a farm could simultaneously produce food, generate electricity, mine Bitcoin, receive campers and function as independently as possible from external supply structures?
This is exactly what we are working on at the Green Bitcoin Farm in Chimiche on Tenerife.
A pilot project for a new way of living and working with the sun is being built step by step on an area of around 3,600 square meters.
The situation
Our finca is located above the coast of Tenerife in Chimiche with an unobstructed view of the Atlantic Ocean.
The region offers ideal conditions:
- Over 300 days of sunshine a year
- Good wind conditions
- Dry climate
- Little shading
- Perfect conditions for Agri-PV
From the upper terrace, the view extends over the entire farm down to the sea.
Agri-PV instead of solar park
At the center of the Green Bitcoin Farm are several rows of translucent Agri-PV modules.
The modules are mounted on wooden structures with an inclination of around 20 degrees.
No sealed surfaces are created under the modules, but productive agriculture.
The structures are weighted down by large IBC water tanks. These fulfill several tasks at once:
- Ballast for the solar modules
- Water reservoir
- Irrigation reserve
- Part of the overall water management
In this way, every construction becomes an energy and water system at the same time.
Dragon Fruit, Moringa and Manga
Dragon Fruit plants grow up the wooden supports of the Agri-PV systems.
Production areas are created between the rows of modules for:
- Moringa
- Manga
- Other drought-resistant crops
The partial shading reduces evaporation and creates a more pleasant microclimate for plants and animals.
Mobile chicken farming
Mobile chicken pens are used under the solar modules.
The chickens take on several tasks:
- Natural fertilization
- Weed control
- Pest reduction
- Production of fresh eggs
The eggs are sold directly on the farm.
This is why there is an egg vending machine next to the battery store, where visitors and neighbors can buy fresh eggs around the clock.
Motorhome pitches with sea view
Part of the farm is used as a small mobile home area.
Five parking spaces are available:
- Power connection
- Water connection
- View over the farm
- View of the Atlantic
Visitors can experience how food production, energy generation and sustainable living can be combined right in front of their mobile home.
The Rural Home
A small rural home is being built on the upper terrace.
This building serves as:
- Manager's apartment
- Office
- Meeting point for visitors
- Future workshop and seminar area
The terrace overlooks the entire Green Bitcoin Farm.
Here we work, plan and enjoy life on Tenerife at the same time.
Energy center of the farm
The technical heart of the system is located directly at the access road.
The Sunsynk PowerHub 120 is located there.
He takes over:
- Energy storage
- Load management
- Supplying the farm
- Supplying the campers
There is also a vertical wind turbine on the PowerHub.
This means that the farm can also generate energy at night or in cloudy weather.
There is a wallbox for electric vehicles next to the storage facility.
Solar fence
The property boundary is secured by a solar fence.
The solar modules are integrated directly into the fence and generate additional electricity.
This means that each area on the farm fulfills several tasks at the same time.
The vision
The Green Bitcoin Farm is more than just a farm.
It is a demonstration project for the question:
How can people live and work in the future if they generate their own energy?
Our aim is to combine agriculture, renewable energies, energy storage, Bitcoin and digital technologies into a functioning overall system.
The sun provides the energy.
The farm produces food.
The batteries store the electricity.
Bitcoin stores the value.
And people regain a bit of independence.
